INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS XMAS 2.5 BETA

These need to be pre-installed on the client machine:

 

- DirectX 9.0c

 

- Windows Media Player 11

 

- .NET Framework 2.0

 

- PowerDVD or WinDVD

 

The new feature offered in this version is streaming video. The chief requirement for our implementation is that it had to be capable of jumping to clips anywhere in a video without a noticeable buffering delay. In order to accomplish this, we have put together an end-to-end Microsoft solution that uses Windows Media Server on the back end, and Windows Media Player 11 on the client. Our videos are encoded in Windows Media (wmv) Format. Doing this allows us to take advantage of a technology developed by Microsoft called Advanced Fast Start, which fulfils the no buffering-delay requirement.
